Palo Santo - Bulnesia Sarmientoi aka Lignum Vitae

Description: This timber is one of the strongest species in the flooring industry, proudly with basic specific gravity between 1.0~1.11 g/cm3. This material has dark stripe patterns and mixed with black and white patterns right after cutting. However, with the oxidation due to the sun light, it turns into dark red color; some might show a lighter shade, some might present black and white mixture. The shade then gets even after a while.
The compounds Pinene and Limonene give off the piney, citrusy smell when it burns, and it leaves a pleasant aroma in the air for hours.
Palo Santo wood can also be made into a soothing tea by boiling pieces of the wood or extracted oil. The tree itself, bursera graveolens is closely related to another fragrant tree, the frankincense.
Other common names: Also known as Argentine Lignum Vitae, Bulnesia sarmientoi, Bursera graveolens, vera or verawood or it may also appear named as Paraguay lignum vitae.
